Modern Dance Rehearsal

TXST FSA held its first modern rehearsal on Sept. 26 at the Student Recreation Center hosted by our modern dance coordinators Safa and Jada. Everyone who attended got to showcase their dance moves and choreography. Don’t forget that modern rehearsals are held Mondays from 9-11 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10-12(midnight) in Studio A at the Student Recreation center. Tailgate v. UH

Texas State FSA kicked off Texas State football season with our first tailgate of the year at Bobcat Stadium on Sept. 24. The tailgate consisted of food, fun, and games and gathered old and new FSA members, we had a great showing of alumni from the first TXST FSA generations. It was all around a great time for FSA to bring past and present generations in one setting.

3RD GENERAL MEETING: Get to Know Your Officers

2016-2017 TXST Officers presented the Website's Officers Page. Each of the officers introduced themselves and provided his/her hometown, major, and three interesting facts. The sets of Ates and Kuyas were also revealed.

First Flag Football Game

The first co-ed intramural football game for Texas State FSA took place Sept. 20 at Bobcat Village against Bobcats. Unfortunately, TXST FSA took a loss, but we would like to thank our players for putting in work at practice and never giving up. A big shout out to everyone who came out and cheered TXST FSA throughout the game. We would like to invite everyone to come out to our next football game on Sept. 27 at Bobcat Village at 8:00 pm.

Our 3rd General Meeting is on Thursday, September 22nd, at 7:30 P.M. in LBJ 3-13.1. We will be talking about the upcoming event: Tailgate Against UH. If you want to be a driver, please register for the after-party’s Tito’s Kotse by Wednesday 6:00 PM. We will be giving you more details about the routes and times at the meeting. ***If you need a ride, sign-up will take place at the meeting. If you are interested to be an Ate or Kuya (Sophomore, Junior, and Senior ONLY), please sign-up by Wednesday 6:00 PM. Must have a partner to sign-up. Ates and Kuyas will be revealed at the meeting. Texas State FSA officers took a field trip to Austin, Texas Sept. 17th to take part in the second SIFA meeting of the 2016-2017 school year. At SIFA meetings officers from all the Texas FSA chapters meet at a designated location to discuss Isang Mahal, GoodPhil, and general FSA topics. On Thursday, September 15th, we held our 2nd general meeting in LBJ. We introduced ourselves to all the new faces and went over some of the major upcoming events: TAILGATE!, Isang Mahal (We hope you signed up!) & Goodphil: preparing for sports, and all of the dances, etc. We also launched our official website. Reminders: -the first dance practice will be held on (September 26th) -Membership dues need to be submitted by Friday, September 26th Following the meeting, we had our 2nd social at Pie Society and it was a huge success! All new FSA members got to meet and interact with one another. We were all full of pizza… and smiles :)

First Fundraising Event: The Filipino Market

Our first fundraising event took place on September 12th at the Texas State University Quad. The Filipino Market offered a variety of food and drinks: chicken adobo, lumpia, pork dumplings, gulaman tea and calamansi.

First General Meeting and Post-Social

Texas State FSA held its first general meeting on Sept. 8. FSA introduced its 2016-2017 officers and the purpose of FSA: Network, Leadership, and Family. We also discussed the roles of each officer and set our goals for the 2016-2017 school year. At our first general meeting new and old FSA members participated in a team builder titled the “Human Knot.” Participants formed a circle and twisted and tangled each others arms and tried to untangle one another without breaking the circle. We had our first after-meeting social took place at George's on Sept. 8. New and old FSA members had the chance to interact on a one-on-one basis through food and fun games.
