Fall Banquet

Texas State FSA hosted its first ever Fall Banquet at the LBJ Ballroom on Nov. 18. New and old FSA members came together to celebrate FSA. We had a buffet style dinner that consisted of dishes and drinks made by many FSA members and to top it off a roasted pig also known as Lechon in Tagalog. The night continued with a special guest performance by Brent Ramirez and a karaoke session. We want to thank all of those who attended and those who made it possible for us to have this great event.

7th General Meeting

At our seventh general meeting was held on Nov. 17 we discussed the last minute things to do before the Fall Banquet. The merits in order to participate for GoodPhil were presented at the meeting. We also learned how to say some words in Tagalog presented by Neil via video. Some special guests from Omega Delta Phi & Delta Sigma Phi invited us to the Lip-Sync battle to raise money for The Casa Foundation and The American Red Cross. At the end of the meeting we also distributed the fall banquet tickets for all the members.

Announcement #7

Our 7th General Meeting will be this Thursday, November 17th, at 7:30 p.m. in Hines 205. Our Fall Banquet is coming up this Friday, November 18th! We will be distributing the Banquet tickets at the meeting, so please be there. Getting your tickets ahead of time will make the check-in process run a lot more smoothly. Please come to the meeting to stay updated with our end-of-semester and future events!

4th Fundraising Event: The Filipino Market

Our fourth fundraising event took place on Nov. 10 in the Texas State quad. The Filipino Market menu consisted of lumpia, dumpling, chicken adobo, filipino refreshments, and the return of one of our most requested drinks Taro Tea. Thank you to all the members that helped prep and sell.

Third, Fourth, and Final Soccer Games

Texas State FSA took the victory against San Marcos Hall in its third Indoor Soccer game on Oct. 25. On Nov. 1 TXST FSA’s indoor soccer team took a loss against Blanco One by the score of 8-4. FSA won their final game on Nov. 8 against The College Inn. This win left the team with a record of 3-2 taking them to a playoff game where they lost ending their season, Thank you to all who took the time out and came to cheer FSA on!

Manny Pacquiao Fight & Adobo-Off

On Nov. 5 FSA hosted a Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas viewing. Members enjoyed food and fun card games before the fight. There was also and Adobo-Off between FSA members who wanted to see who’s adobo recipe would become FSA’s new recipe for all the fundraising and social events.

FSA & SNO: Garden Thyme

TXST FSA teamed up with SNO to plant an herb garden on Nov. 4. The event consisted of planting multiple different kinds of herbs, painting rocks, and learning about more ways of eating healthy. We want to thank SNO for having us at their garden and we hope to team once again for another event.

6th General Meeting

At our sixth general meeting took place on Nov. 3 we discussed the filipino traditions of all souls days and what the best filipino street food is. We also previewed our culture dance for GoodPhil the Habanera Botolena. There was mention of our final Filipino Market day. We ended the meeting by giving out our official 2016-2017 Texas State FSA shirts.

Announcement #6

Good evening FSA. Our 6th General Meeting will be this Thursday, November 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. in HINES 205. (map attached below) We will be handing out FSA T-shirts and we will be taking our group photo, so we encourage you to be there! Also, more details on upcoming social, fundraising, and philanthropic events will be announced.
